The Premier Inshore & Bay Fishing Guide of Pensacola, Florida
Pensacola and the surrounding areas are doing everything they can to minimize the effects of the oil spill to our area. The oil spill has not reached us yet. However when booking reservations with your Hotel or Condo, ensure that you can get a full refund if the oil does make it to the beach before or while you are here. Please keep in mind that our local economy is driven by visitors, check with us before you cancel. Anyone needing to cancel their trip please send me an email stating your reason for cancellation. This is so I have an accurate number for my records. Please check out these helpful links below:
- Oil jobs, Hot line, Meeting info, volunteer opportunities
- Oil news many threads from local people trajectory maps etc.
- Local news station. Video, pictures, and news casts
Thank you very much. Wish for tight lines, North winds and a quick fix.

Pensacola Fishing Guide - Captain Dusty Powers
I am Captain Dusty Powers. Born and raised on the waters in and near Pensacola Florida. I am a 4th generation fisherman of the area. My family and I have made fishing a lifestyle and have enjoyed it immensely.
I fish professionally on the IFA Redfish Tour and compete in many local and some regional fishing tournaments.
I pride myself on being the best at what I do in all aspects of my life and fishing is no exception. I enjoy sharing my pastime and knowledge with others. There is nothing more exciting than to watch someone catch the fish of a lifetime. I look forward to the opportunity to take you along. Join me on the water for a great day of fishing and fun.
Tournament Fishing
I am fortunate enough to be able to find a few weekends a year that I can take time off fishing to go fishing. These weekends "off" are spent either scouting in Pensacola or some random little coastal town.
Capt Josh Rozier (White Knuckle Charters) is one of the best fisherman I know and I am lucky enough to have him as my full time IFA redfish tour partner. We started fishing the IFA in 2008, and had our best finish in the Championship at 20th place (out of 120 Teams). We also fish some local slam tournaments here in Pensacola Fl. The Slam tournaments as well as Emerald coast redfish club tournaments. We have placed in the top 5 in every local tournament that we have fished for the last 3yrs. We won the Outcast inshore slam tournament this year winning a Blazer Bay boat as the top prize. I will post Monthly Fishing Reports on the Reports page.

Pensacola Fishing Report
The New Year has started off with a bang. Cold weather, heavy rain, lots of wind and of course Redfish. There have been a lot of days when we just couldn’t get out, either too cold or way too cold. We did manage a few trips in the weather windows that were blessed with this last month, and did very well. The redfish stayed down the beach in the clean salty water. There have been good reports from the bridges and some of the passes as well.
The Sheepshead and Black Drum have moved out and can be found on some of well known structures of the area. The Flounder have also stayed strong on the close reefs and wrecks off Pensacola in the Gulf. Please come enjoy an Inshore Charter with us here in Pensacola Florida.

Cold weather is starting to taper off, days are getting longer and the fish have started to move into their spring patterns. We have had some of the coldest and wettest winter weather you can imagine this year. It can only get better. The month before it all begins let's go down the check list. The boat is ready to go serviced, waxed, and fixed up by the factory. Thanks Lake and Bay Boats!
The tackle is all cleaned and sorted with new power pro on all the Shimano Rods and Reels. The trailer has been greased; the tires and brakes checked. The only thing to do is go fishing. We have started booking several trips late this month and into March so don't wait until you get to Pensacola Beach before you book your fishing trip.
Now.... the Bull Redfish have been hanging around the Gulf side of Pensacola Beach near the pier and Perdido Key around the Eden. These Redfish are mostly over the Florida slot which is 18-27 inches. The white trout are hanging around the Pensacola Bay Fishing Bridge and surrender to the gulp shrimp on a jig head. The Cobia will start to move down the beach sooner than later and the first fish will be caught down around Destin or Panama City beach in a matter of weeks. The Sheepshead are still migrating toward the passes. Good reports of sheepshead being caught around the Bob Sykes Bridge and the Three Mile Bridge within the last few weeks. The surf fishing will also get much better as the sun starts to shine. The Pompano, Whiting and Redfish can be caught right out in front of your condo.
Let us be your Pensacola Fishing Guides.
Thanks

Pensacola Pass has started to erupt with fish and fisherman alike. It looks like Boca Grande there are so many boats chasing the striped bandits. Spring break in Pensacola has proven years past to be the marker for the sheepshead and this year is no exception. These fish average from 3lbs – 10lbs and fight like you wouldn’t believe, they can only be compared to a 10lb Blue Gill.
If big galvanized snapper are not your thing than the Redfish and the Black drum might interest you. The bulls are off Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key National Seashore. There are plenty of slot reds hanging on the flats and on the jetties in Pensacola Pass, Destin Bridge, and Alabama point. The black drums are in the same general areas.
We have been catching Pompano regularly in the past few weeks mainly as by catch with live shrimp on the bottom. The fishing is getting heated up on the gulf coast. Don’t miss out on your Pensacola Fishing Adventure.

April has had its ups and downs. Fishing has been great here in Pensacola. The cobias have made a run to remember with great numbers of fish and an avg. weight in the 60lb range. When the weather permitted you to be out in the gulf you caught fish. The redfish and speckled trout have also been doing their part to make anglers happy. All the usual docks and deep water structure in Big Lagoon, Santa Rosa sound, and Pensacola Bay are still holding great fish. The trout hit the flats a little later than the norm but they are good ones. As for the sheepshead some are still lingering around but most have moved on. After about the 2nd week of April they become harder to locate especially in numbers. The flounder are running late but any day they should be cruising back through the pass. That about sums up the UP portion of the report.
As for the downs of April, the oil spill in the Gulf has threatened a way of life for the people on the Gulf coast. We sit back and wait for a possible catastrophe and don’t know how bad or how long before it gets here. The prevailing winds for now are north but that will unfortunately change. Pray for a fix and enjoy every minute you can on the beaches and on the water.
